Dear colleagues and friends,
 I would like to start my tenure (2021-2023) as Malaysia Spine Society (MSS) President by expressing my gratitude to my predecessor, Professor Dato’ Dr Kwan Mun Keong, and also, to the former Executive Committee Members. Under Prof. Dato’ Dr Kwan Mun Keong’s leadership, MSS has made significant steps towards achieving its goals.
I would also like to thank MSS members for entrusting me to helm the society’s leadership. It is a great privilege and honour for me, and I will dedicate all my efforts to bring this society to the next level of success.
The 8th International MSS Scientific Congress 2021 (Virtual) was a great success despite it was held online due to pandemic COVID-19. The programme was very well structured with good instructional lectures, interactive Q&A sessions, and oral and e-poster presentations, which benefited more than 200 delegates.
I am looking forward to our next 9th International MSS Scientific Congress 2022 which I hope can be held as physical conference in Kuala Lumpur.
These annual meetings provide us with the perfect opportunity to update our knowledge by learning from renowned international speakers as well as from our own local fellow surgeons. Stay tuned as we will make announcement about the Congress!
Besides the Annual Scientific Meeting, MSS has started online webinars exclusively for MSS members in 2021 and will engage in more education programme as MSS is focusing on learning and teaching. I hope our members will participate actively in these planned activities.
MSS is moving towards to become a more internationalised society. We will participate actively and work closely with other international spine societies, e.g. Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS), and Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), as well as other regional spine societies. We will also like encourage our members to participate actively in these international and regional meetings. Since 2019, MSS is offering education grants to its members to participate in these events. MSS also started to form special interest groups such as Endoscopic Interest Group, Fee Schedule Committee and Pain Interventional Group for MSS members.
Finally, I would like to encourage more spine surgeons to participate in the society’s activities and grow together with us. |
